Adriano Celentano has been a fixture in modern Italian culture since 1957. Initially influenced by Elvis Presley and Jerry Lewis, he made a name for himself as a singer, actor and TV personality. He would soon move behind the camera, becoming a successful director and producer.
“Una Storia Come Questa” (A Story Like This) is from the soundtrack to the 1971 film Er Più – storia d'amore e di coltello. It’s a unique song that starts off as chanson meets polka, then quickly morphs into a trans-euro symphonic escape. I especially love the ending as his voice fades, either chasing love or the train that got away. With over 150 million albums sold, Adriano Celentano is a powerhouse of Italian music. He is often credited for introducing Rock-n-Roll to Italy and his comedic roles are beloved throughout Europe. I think this is a wonderful song and an artist that should have been more popular in the United States.
